Shopping in Fort Lauderdale

ft lauderdale shopping plazas specials savingsFort Lauderdale, Florida is one of the premier tourist destinations in the United States, and perhaps even in the world. Millions of people come here each year in search of relaxation, fun, and activity.

But one of the most enjoyed activities in all of Fort Lauderdale is spending a day browsing the various shopping centers and shopping areas. Below we've complied some favorite choices for a great day of shoppping in Fort Lauderdale.

For sheer beauty and atmosphere, Las Olas Boulevard in the picturesque downtown region, cannot be topped. With gas-lit streets, the variety of quality shops and boutiques dazzle and amaze every shopper that wanders down the boulevard. Countless galleries offer a unique array of gifts and artwork to take home or to purchase as an once-in-a-lifetime gift.

For more contemporary shopping, there are many wonderful and exciting malls from which to choose.

The Galleria is a magnificent three-story complex located on Sunrise Boulevard, just off the beach. It offers many name brand stores such as Cartier, Dillards, and Ann Taylor.

In nearby Plantation, the Broward Mall and the Fashion Mall can be found to continue with the sport of shopping.

If swap meets and flea markets are more your thing, there are several in the Fort Lauderdale area.

The Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop is open seven days per week and offers free parking. This amazing place offers much more than just shopping pleasures, however. Covering more than eighty-eight acres, it is the world's largest indoor/outdoor shopping and entertainment complex, and Florida's second largest tourist attraction. There are over eight hundred individual stations where visitors can shop for one-of-a-kind items, get something to eat or drink, play a few games, or even take in a movie at the 13-screen drive-in theatre. There is even a circus within its boundaries.

Another flea market style shopping center is the Festival Marketplace west of Pompano Beach. Here more than 800 stores and kiosks offer a variety of items from around the globe. Located within a half-a-million square foot, air-conditioned facility, the quarter mile of shopping bliss contains such places as a Farmer's Market, an arcade, and hundreds of other stores of all types and styles.

With all that there is to choose from in the way of shopping, it is no wonder that so many people travel to Fort Lauderdale every year. With the sheer variety of stores to browse in, it may be hard to remember that there is a beach nearby.
